Process of Cannabis Therapy
We consider you a new patient if you have only tried conventional therapies to relieve your symptoms. You have not yet tried treatment with medical cannabis. You would like to start therapy or talk to a specialized doctor about the treatment options with medical cannabis.
Register free of charge to arrange a consultation with one of our cooperating doctors. You will then see several topic blocks with questions in your profile. We need this information in advance so that we can ensure that all important documents are available for the possible start of therapy and that your treating doctor can prepare for the consultation as best as possible.
Please fill out these questions to the best of your knowledge and belief. Proof of a medical diagnosis is required in order to begin treatment. Please upload medical reports (e.g. doctor's letter/certificate/referral form) on your complaints in your profile, which show the diagnoses and - where possible - the treatment procedures carried out so far. You can request these from your GP or specialist.
Once all documents have been uploaded and questions have been filled out, your details will be checked by our medical staff. After successful approval, you will be given the opportunity to book an appointment. Up to this point, our service is completely free of charge for you.
As soon as your information and documents have been reviewed and approved by our medical staff, you will receive a call from our support team who will schedule an appointment for the initial consultation at the location you have chosen.
During the initial consultation with one of our cooperating doctors, a physical and psychological medical history will be taken. During the consultation, the doctor will check whether other treatment options in line with guidelines have been considered and have proven to be inadequate.
If medical cannabis is a suitable therapeutic alternative and/or supplement for you, it will be prescribed according to your individual diagnosis and needs. You will receive your first prescription when therapy begins.
Your doctor will accompany you through your treatment in regular follow-up online consultations (at least once per quarter). He will ask you about your health and adjust your medication if necessary. You will of course also have the opportunity to ask your doctor questions about the therapy. You will then receive your follow-up prescription.
In order to track your treatment progress, you will be asked about your health at regular intervals in the Nowomed app. This way, your doctor can closely monitor your therapy, even if you only consult him once a quarter via video consultation. By answering the questions about your quality of life, you can apply for a follow-up prescription without a consultation.
In order to apply for follow-up prescriptions, you must first be authorised to do so by your doctor. You can only be authorized to do so if your medication is well adjusted. For follow-up prescriptions without a video consultation, it is also possible to specify a desired preparation in the same dosage and with a similar spectrum of activity when applying.
The duration of the dosage phase is very individual and depends on personal previous experience, the individual state of illness and the need to adapt the preparations during the course of therapy (on average about 1-3 months). During the dosage phase, it is often necessary to have closer medical supervision through video consultations (about once a month).
